About Susie Berg Wellness.png

About Susie Berg

I may be a Midwestern girl at heart, but I’ve spent my adult life in the Boston area with my husband and our three now‑grown kids.

In 2017, with the support of a health coach, I transformed my own health. I built sustainable habits around nutrition, hydration, movement, and sleep — and learned firsthand that meaningful behavior change takes time, patience, and self‑compassion. We're all a work in progress.

Now, post‑menopause, my healthy lifestyle plays an even more important role in supporting hormone balance and long‑term well‑being. These days, I’m especially focused on strength training, lifting heavy, flexibility, and balance.

That personal transformation sparked my passion for helping others on their own health journeys. Over the past eight years as a certified health coach, I’ve partnered with hundreds of clients of all ages and stages. I meet each person with empathy, curiosity, and a personalized, whole‑person approach.

Outside of coaching, you’ll usually find me in nature — biking, birdwatching, hiking, or behind a camera. And for fun, I recently published my first children’s book, Take a Bath in Ketchup.

Weight Management

Focus on simple, structured nutrition to stabilize blood sugar and reduce inflammation. From there, we build practical skills—like smart grocery shopping, meal prep, and planning ahead—that make healthy choices easier. As these routines take hold, we layer in movement, sleep, and mindset habits that help you feel stronger, clearer, and more in control. It’s a sustainable path to long‑term weight management, not another quick fix.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a health and wellness coach?

Health coaches work with people to set and achieve their health and wellness goals, whether that's fitness, weight management, forming better habits, managing chronic conditions, or making any other behavior change. A health coach helps clients bridge the gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it. This collaborative process involves co-creating realistic goals, identifying potential obstacles, and developing strategies to overcome them. People hire a coach when they want support and accountability - to turn intention into action, regain control of their health and create a sustainable healthy lifestyle.

What does it mean to be national board-certified?

A national board-certified health and wellness coach (NBC-HWC) has met national standards for education, assessment and ethical practice, and has earned the NBC-HWC credential, the gold standard in the health coaching industry. NBC-HWCs assist clients to use their own insight, personal strengths and values to set goals, commit to action steps and establish accountability in building an envisioned healthy lifestyle. It’s not about giving advice. It's about helping people follow through and create lasting change.

Does working with a health coach actually improve my chances of reaching my goals?

Research shows that people who work with a health coach are significantly more successful in achieving and sustaining their health goals than those who try to make changes on their own. With more than 100 peer‑reviewed studies supporting the field, health coaching has been shown to improve goal attainment, follow‑through, and long‑term behavior change. Coaching creates the structure, accountability, and compassionate partnership that make lasting change possible.

How do stress, nutrition and sleep affect women's hormonal health?

Research shows that women’s hormones respond to everyday patterns. Ongoing stress can disrupt cortisol levels and reproductive hormones, the foods we eat influence insulin and estrogen balance, and the quality of our sleep shapes mood, emotional regulation and appetite control. This is why creating healthy lifestyle habits is a powerful way to support hormonal wellbeing, especially during perimenopause and beyond.

Can I use my HSA or FSA account for Health and Wellness Coaching expenses?

The IRS cites that "amounts paid for the primary purpose of treating a disease are deductible as medical care." If you have a medical condition/disease for which your doctor recommends health and wellness coaching services as a treatment to address it, then the costs qualify as "medical care" and, therefore, may qualify as a deductible medical expense. Speak with your doctor about getting a Letter of Medical Necessity (contact me for a sample letter). You should also verify details with your HSA/FSA provider.
